MP3 Colin Spring - How I Came To Cry These Tears Of Cool

Folk with a rock and roll attitude

13 MP3 Songs
FOLK: Modern Folk, ROCK: Folk Rock

Details:
"One of my first memories, if not the very first, is the Federales surrounding the van with their machine guns and German Shepherds." That true story about his step father the drug runner, became kind of the genesis for this fourth album from Colin Spring )....as documented in the folk/Americana/ epic "Culiacan". Much like the classic 70''s legends he emulates, Colin is capable of bringing us into his unconventional world to smell the smells and take a look around. His is a real world, dirty, desperate, auspicious, idealistic, impulsive and calculated. It is intelligent and literary yet maintains all the warts of crude and beautiful folk art. You come in here for the narrative and leave with a piece of proletariat wisdom, just read below what the reviewers say....

Artist and Album Information
Instrumentation-"Tears Of Cool" features Mark Pickerel (Screaming Trees), Jim Sangster (Young Fresh Fellows), Carla Torgerson (Walkabouts), Anne Marie Ruljancich (Jesse Sykes and the Sweet Hereafter), Kevin Suggs (Shins, Brandi Carlile), Jason Staczek (Supersuckers) and Artis The Spoonman (yes, of the Soundgarden song!). It was produced by Johnny Sangster (Mudhoney, Briefs, Smoosh, Posies)

This is folk with a indie rock and roll attitude. Nobody writes lyrics like Colin Spring, from politics, to love, and philosophy, they are clever, insightful, cynical, and hopeful and they must be absorbed to gather their multitude of layers. It is a testament to the scope of his songwriting that Colin has shared bills with such a wide array of artists including Ben Harper, the Offspring, Richard Buckner, Damien Jurado, Johnny Dowd, Gerald Collier, Stuart Davis, the Gentlemen (Chris Ballew,Duff McKagen), Michael Miller, Shane Nicholson, Jon Langsford of the Mekons Bobby Bare Jr, Tom Freund, Matt The Electrician and Evan Dando.

♠Spring lands in the company of the most important talents this town (Seattle) has produced in recent years...Meet the Sea is the best album since Modest Mouses'' second release -The Stranger

♠Colin knows how to wordsmith predictable short stories into dazzling folk epics. There are tinges of Tom Petty in Spring''s many moments of low-class desperation, and the dozens of ideas stuffed into each line call Elvis Costello to https://www.tradebit.coming''s down-home poetry cannot be denied, making this Cancion enjoyable for all but the most pretentious listeners -Left Of The Dial March 2005
