ROCK: Classic Rock, BLUES: Guitar Blues
Details:
"C"-Philes-----interesting name! The "C" stands for "Conch" because
Roger and Cindi live in The Conch Republic. (The Florida Keys) Because
Roger was a big fan of the "X-Files", a slight change in spelling and
that''s how the name came to be.
Roger and Cindi have played music together for nineteen years. Roger has
played guitar for thirty-five years. During that period he has been in
and out of bands that has opened for some 60''s bands such as The Turtles
and The Grassroots. He has also worked as a solo artist. Cindi has done
vocals for thirty-five years (which includes solos, duets, trios, and
choirs in her community. They met in 1985 and were married in 1986. They
put their music "on hold" for awhile to raise four children (two his and
two hers).
In 1999, they moved to Grassy Key to persue a musical career in the
Florida Keys and "C"-Philes was born. Roger and Cindi''s musical
influences range from Classic Rock (Eric Clapton, Elton John, etc.) to
Southern Rock (Lynyrd Skynyrd, 38 Special, etc.) to Blues (B B King,
Muddy Waters, etc.).
"C"-Philes debut CD, ''Grassy Key is Where?" asks just that
question--where is Grassy Key?
The title track is about a guy looking for his old girlfriend after
she''s moved to the islands. Most of the songs on the CD are taken from
their experiences of Keys living. "Into Your Eyes" was a song Roger
wrote to Cindi. "The Old Salt" was written about a dear friend of
Roger''s who lost his battle with diabetes. "Beer Bug Blues" was an
actual poolside event. A bug flew into Roger''s beer and someone said
"You guys need to write a song about that". So they did! "Every Night is
Friday Night" (in the Keys) speaks for itself.
So-----get yourself one of those drinks with the little umbrella, then
sit back and imagine yourself in the islands.
Enjoy!
