By John Gilbert
Of the nineteen tunes on this album, one stands alone as the
centerpiece. "Tribute" is pure bop from the top and swings from the https://www.tradebit.com alto solo speaks volumes, and the guitar kicks in nicely with clever ideation to match the alto''s cool message.
The tunes are varied eclectic styles ranging from every genre on the music scene, but "Tribute" strands alone as the hallmark of this CD.
Variation is the theme of this recording, there is something for everyone''s taste in this musical melange.
As far as artistic purity is concerned "Tribute" alone is worth the price of this record.
It bears repeating, there is something for all in this neatly packaged CD.

Crayge W. Lindesay - ''Contemplating''
CD: ''KC Exposed (Volume 1)
A seriously strong gem of an independently produced 19-track jazz fusion/vocal album out of Kansas from the immensely talented Crayge Lindesay and friends. Highlight vocal tracks are the funky and melodic soca-styled ''Fast & Furious'' featuring a superb male lead vocal from Emmit Lee, the midtempo groove of the standout ''Contemplatin'' which I''d imagine will gain considerable dancefloor attention in the coming weeks, another track featuring an excellent lead vocal performance, this time from Angela ''Wildflower'' Polk, excellent stuff indeedy. Track 8 ''Something Sexual'' is an atmospheric breathy part-vocal trumpet/fleugelhorn-led groove which takes me back to the late 70s/early 80s jazz fusion albums I used to buy with such a passion. ''Nothing In This World'' is a lovely little floater with superb dual lead male & female vocal, and this is followed by another of the album''s highlights, the fingersnappin'' Manhattan Transfer/Raw Silk style jazzy ''Love Walked In'', absolutely wonderful and guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Of the remaining tracks, the beautifully sung ''Grateful'', the fantastic ''Home'' featuring the vocals of FER''s Baby Lee and one which I reckon could be a huge hit if it was pushed in the right places, the beautiful part vocalised guitar-led ''Tracey''s Song'' and the big band swing of the excellent ''KC'', all stand out and make this an album which should no way be overlooked and left in obscurity as it''s way too good all round. A future collectable without a doubt.
