Details:
Growing up in Dayton, Ohio, a city where the only means of making real money consist of blue collar assembly line work or selling drugs in the neighborhood, but neither attracted the attention of Michael “M.I.C.E.V.E.” Stevens. Raised by his mother after his father picked up and left, was always seen to become the one who would do something great. At an early age his mother would play a lot of rhythm and blues artist like Whitney Houston, Phyllis Hyman, Bobby Brown, Earth, Wind, & Fire, Johnny Gill, and others on the way to work in her car not knowing that later it would influence him to become a musician. While in high school he formed a group with three rap buddies and called themselves, “Tha Aresinis”. After releasing two mix tapes the group disbanded and everybody went separate ways except for him and John “John Street” Morgan. They would later create a group called, “Blakkk Friday” and are still together now. Between breakups and everything "M.I.C.E.V.E.” has released an independent album titled, “The Motion Picture” which featured everyone who was in Tha Aresinis. Now on the verge of releasing his first album in two years and numerous shows later, M.I.C.E.V.E. is ready to give the world “Frowns”, which is an album that consist of all things that make people frown from suicide to racism to prostitution to war it’s all covered in detail on this cd. His intentions with the album is to take the smirks off the faces of the pop and party music that dominate the airwaves and shed light on the real issues at hand, his music has been described as conscience hip hop with a soulful backdrop . With Dayton being such a powerhouse in the ‘60’s and ‘70’s with soul musicians like Slave, The Ohio Players, Roger Troutman & Zapp, and others never really spawned too many hip hop acts until now.
