Sometimes, the difficult path is the only way to get there.
It hasn''t been an easy road for DEiLUSIA. Previously known as the popular Redwood City hard rock band "Mourning Star", the band seemed to be poised for a breakthrough in 2001. The band sold over 600 copies of their first full-length album, "Mourning Star", in a matter of months strictly through word of mouth. During this time, the band became the most requested local band on the KSJO radio show "Home Grown" for two weeks in a row. The first single "Dried Out" was consistently one of the Bay Area''s most downloaded songs on https://www.tradebit.com.
This early success wouldn''t last. At the end of 2001, the band was forced to change its name due to the existence of another band with the same name. The band then spent a few unlucky years going through multiple lineups and name changes. Finally, in August of 2004, the band found permanent members and a name no other band had: DEiLUSIA.
DEiLUSIA is a made-up word: "dei" is the Latin word for God while "ilusia" suggests illusion or elusive.
Music with meaning.
The loss of friends and loved ones through suicide, disease and addiction have left their mark on DEiLUSIA''s music. The music and lyrics are dark, but there is always an energetic undercurrent of optimism.
The diverse musical tastes of the band are apparent. DEiLUSIA doesn''t try to make songs that sound a certain way or fit into a certain genre. The goal is always to make good songs that are meaningful. The result is a passionate mix of alternative, indie, grunge, metal and blues.
With a brand new self-titled album released in October 2005, the band aims to erase the misfortunes of the past and move forward.
