Details:
My given name is Donovan Tracey, born to Gloria and Isiah Tracey on the 18th day of March 1959 at the University of the West Indies, St. Andrew, Jamaica. I am the eldest of eight children. Growing up in the 1970''s, I assumed responsibility at an early age. I became conscious of my being and the world in which I lived. My passion for writing was ignited while attending Bethany Primary School in Manchester, the parish where my mother was born. While in school there I would receive high marks in composing essays and poetry and was encouraged by my teachers to pursue this skill.

After years of living in Manchester, my family moved to Kingston again. I attended Papine Junior Secondary and Burlington High Schools. It was at this time that I became enlightened to Marcus Garvey''s philosophy and the civil rights movement in the United States. Diligently, I started seeking my cultural identity and heritage. The main source of my knowledge I received through the expression of reggae music that was evolving with the Rasta movement and the visit of His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie to Jamaica. I attended the peace concert that was held at the National Stadium by musicians and artists in an effort to unite the political factions. My youthful imagination was frantic with ideas. I wanted to be involved in the movement. By the mid-1970''s, I was out of school and was learning a trade as an electrical technician. In the evenings, after work, I would visit the major recording studios in Kingston, mainly the Channel One and Joe Gibbs studios, and socialize with the musicians of the era. I was very humble and respectful. With those attributes, I was allowed to be inside the studios while the musicians and artists worked. At the age of 18, I made my first recording at Channel One Studio. It was also at this time that I became a father. I spent the next five years working as a technician in which I became a supervisor with a new company in Kingston. In March 1985, I journeyed to the United States to live and work. I settled in Hartford, Connecticut where I worked for a dairy company and raised by family. During my vacations, I would travel to Jamaica to collaborate with various musicians to begin working on this "Zion Trumpet" music project. In 1990, while working with other artists on the "Conqueror - Defender of the Faith" sound system with Selector Jah-Be. After collaborating with musicians, vocalists and studio engineers, I was able to set a budget to start a 12 song recording. I started travelling between Jamaica, New York and Massachusetts to recording studios and in 2000 the project was completed.

The CD is titled "Zion Trumpet", a proclamation of love, peace and truth, musical, spiritual enlightenment reflecting the possibilties of humanity and all elements of life.

All accolades to Jah. Through the spirit of faith and works, this vision has been manifested.
