Details:
The Hangman''s Beautiful Daughter is the result of two singer/songwriters that got tired of explaining to people that they weren''t a band. So they became one.

Brought up in the shadow of a northeastern rust-belt city where work, church, and pro sports teams defined one''s worth, Steve Roth and Meredith Brown met up at one of the area''s open mics. Booking three-hour gigs, they''d take turns playing their own sets. They eventually figured out that by playing percussion or adding harmonies to each other''s songs made the night go by faster. Plus, the added layers sounded gorgeous.

In 2004, just prior to meeting Meredith, Steve was finishing up his first solo cd project, "Beautiful Addiction," mixed and produced by Armand Petri (Goo Goo Dolls, 10,000 Maniacs, Sixpence None the Richer, etc.). Mere managed to fit in harmonies on three of the songs. Those were the tracks that seemed to pop and shine a little brighter.

In 2006 they decided to combine songs and record a disc together with Petri''s help again. "If I Should Stumble" is what they walked out of the studio with in May 2007; a disc with "dressed up," (at least casual), versions of what they do live. Still minimalist and acoustic the album, (with a release date of late summer ''07), revels in its indie rock attitude, alt-country grit, and flare for modern folk. The songs are intimate, vulnerable expressions of where they''ve come from, how they got there, and how they plan on getting out.

Not knowing exactly how to define themselves or their sound when asked, they came up with the term "Neo-Bohemian," thinking it would conjure up images of 60''s and 70''s earthiness with a 21st century slant. Unfortunately, that just made matters worse. But the familiar yet unique sound they create has earned them numerous honors and a fair share of regional airplay, as well as rotation on national internet stations.

In 2007 the band relocated to Nashville. It''s a warmer climate with new possibilities. And 700 miles south is still close enough to occasionally catch a cool breeze in the shadow of that northeastern rust-belt city.
