Barbara Raimondi started her professional career when she was very young, working in live and recording sessions as a vocalist for dance music, acid jazz and pop productions.
At the age of 24 she had her first touch with jazz music, attending the Civic Jazz Centre in Turin. Later on, she partecipate to several jazz seminaries, where she met international teachers as Mal Waldron and Rachel Gould (Royal Jazz Conservatory, L’Aja, Holland).
Meanwhile, she remained in the pop music area, working with well known Italian artists as Roberto Vecchioni and affirmed jazz musicians as Andrea Pozza, Luigi Bonafede, Emanuele Cisi, Giampaolo Casati, Paolo Porta, Garrison Fewell, Giorgio LiCalzi, Luciano Milanese, Peggy Stern.
In 1999 she published her first CD with her own quartet, “ Vita da Altoparlante “ where she proposed her compositions and this record make her partecipate at “ Rumori Mediterranei “ Roccella Ionica’s Festival, with Enrico Pieranunzi, that is probably the most famous Italian jazz piano player; the whole project, about Beatles and Miles Davis, was written and conducted by him. Presently she’s working on her new CD with the guitar player Sandro Gibellini and she teaches vocal technique at the Musical Academy of Savona and Turin.
Her mezzo - soprano voice and her versatility allow her to approach different music languages and styles, from Brazilian bossa nova to classical jazz standards, as well as in her own compositions and her repertoire always carries her peculiar jazz imprint.
Since 2002 she started to approach the contemporary classical music, working with the Ensemble Coro di Torino and, with this, taking part to important representations of modern compositions, like the Lux Aeterna of Georgy Ligeti and original music of the Italian compositor Enrico Correggia.
