Details:
The first Definiens Holidays CD! You won''t want to miss this fresh perspecive on holiday music performed by Definiens musicians and arranged by L.A.-based composers Kevin Saunders Hayes, Gregory Milliren, Dante De Silva, and Jeanette-Louise Yaryan.

The Definiens Project is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization committed to building new, diverse chamber music audiences through the innovative presentation of chamber music.

In our six-year history we have implemented new approaches to performance in a range of venues from the Jazz Bakery, the Culver Hotel, Club Tropical, local art galleries, private homes, churches, and coffee houses. These performances have developed into regular concert series in multiple communities in Southern California, including Culver City, Long Beach, South Pasadena, and West L.A. We have attracted hundreds of people who had never previously attended a chamber or classical music performance; many are now regular audience attendees.

Last season we expanded the educational component of the organization with the launch of our UCLA composer residency. In this residency we worked with undergraduate and graduate composers in writing pieces for one of our ensembles, giving them a performer’s perspective. This residency culminated with two performances at UCLA and one at the Jazz Bakery, where the audience was able to benefit in seeing the live performer-composer interaction.

In the coming two seasons, in addition to maintaining our vigorous performance schedule, The Definiens Project plans on continuing the residency program, launching a new educational initiative called L.A. Music Works, and producing our first albums.

By acknowledging and bridging social contexts, we cultivate vibrant experiences that will attract and retain audiences.
