Award winning soprano and actress, Michelle Todd was born in England and studied at Sheffield University, https://www.tradebit.com. (Hons), The Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London (postgraduate Opera & Voice) and The Banff Centre Canada.
Her early performing years were as a member of the multi award winning ensemble Cantamus, with whom she sang in England and Europe. She made her prize winning London recital debut in the Purcell Room followed by solo performances in The Queen Elizabeth Hall and as guest soprano with: "The Hans Eisler Ensemble " "New London Ballet", "London Contemporary Dance Theatre", "Songscape", Royal National Theatre Foyer Concerts, "Opera Italiana" and as guest "star singer" for BBC''s "Friday Night is Music Night." She has been soloist in the sacred works of Bach, Vivaldi, Handel, Mozart, Faure and Resphigi. Her operatic roles include Mozart''s "Cosi Fan Tutte", "Marriage of Figaro," Handel''s "Xerxes", Gretry''s "The Jealous Lover", and Gilbert and Sullivan''s "Pirates of Penzance ", Her major roles in London Theatres, include "H.M.S. Pinafore",Stephen Sondheim’s "Follies", "Little Me","The Sound of Music" and in repertory " Little Shop of Horrors", "Pravda", "Bless the Bride," and "Twelfth Night".
In Canada her theatre work includes leading roles at The Shaw Festival, The Citadel Theatre Edmonton , Stage West, performing across country in recital with the voice/harp duo Amata and profiled for Bravo Television. Her appearances in oratorio and chamber music include guest soloist with the Calgary Festival Chorus, Mount Royal Woodwind Quintet, Beau Quartet, Kensington Sinfonia, Aubade Chamber Ensemble, Land''s End Chamber Ensemble, Okanagan Symphony, The Parry Sound Festival and the Newfoundland Sound Festival,
Favourite roles in North American theatres include "My Fair Lady", "Oklahoma","Cinderella", "Masterclass", "Side by Side by Sondheim" and "Move over Mrs. Markham".
Renowned for her interpretation and interest in contemporary works Miss Todd has presented more than forty world premieres, many as soloist with the chamber group Ensemble Resonance and represented Canada twice at the Cantai Festival in Taiwan as performer, adjudicator and masterclass voice teacher.
During a recent six year residency in Dubai, United Arab Emirates she performed Handel''s newly discovered "Gloria", "Marriage of Figaro" (Susanna) at Abu Dhabi National Theatre, oratorio and recitals with various chamber ensembles, most notably at the world''s only 7 star hotel Burj Al Arab, and recorded the sound tracks for film commercials and documentaries. The 2004 /5 season included concerts in Kerala, India, conducted choral performances in Philadelphia, U.S.A. and sang live to a spectacular firework display which was choreographed to her voice for the opening of the Ibn Battuta Mall.
Miss Todd is a member of the National Association of Singing Teachers, and has taught privately in England, Canada, the Middle and Far East and as faculty for many colleges including Mount Royal Conservatoire, Calgary.
