Emmy award winning composer Lynette Westendorf, M.M., D.M.A., lives in a remote mountain valley in the American Northwest.
Mystery in a Gray Room is a project of modern compositions for piano, showing the influence of the song form on Lynette''s writing. Mystery in a Gray Room is a hymn fantasy; When Phaedra Sang, originally composed for koto, is based upon childrens'' melodies. The major work on the CD is Twenty Moons in the Big Canyon, a nine-movement work based upon the poetry of E. Richard Hart. These pieces are all modern "songs without words" whose rhythm is based upon the syntax of the poems.
