The Robot Society Dixieland Swing Band
Impressions Of New Orleans
AKPCD 1017
If ever there was a well-oiled swing band in the USA. “The Robot Society Dixieland Swing Band is it. All of its members are products of a now famous musical/industrial family; and all took private lessons on their respective instruments from the best technicians that America had to offer in the 1980’s.
Most of the personnel on this CD are former students at the Proteus School in Los Angeles, California and got their experience squeaking and squawking on many a midi jam session held from coast to coast and throughout Europe by some of the worlds greatest modern composers and arrangers of film and recordings.
The dream of most jazz musicians has always been to be left alone to play the notes and the style of music that they and they alone wish to play with no one dictating musical ideas to them. Having grown up in the garage band era of the nineteen eighties our talented robots always dreamed that very same dream, that of forming their own band and playing Dixieland and Swing music with their own special interpretation.
As the swing dance era approached our shores this year, the stage was set. This talented musical family finally found a form, of expression in which they could all sink their musical sounds.
This CD is the product of that dream.
Dance on,
Artie Kaplan
