Details:
Both English-born, John Roberts & Tony Barrand have been singing folksongs together since 1969, after they met as graduate students in Ithaca, NY. Singing in unaccompanied harmony, or with concertina or banjo, their entertaining style has delighted audiences at major festivals and venues such as Fox Hollow, Mariposa Folk Festival, Philadelphia Folk Festival, Old Songs, Mystic Sea Music Festival, to name but a few.

The late English folksinger Peter Bellamy had a great love of the poems of Rudyard Kipling, and felt strongly that Kipling had tunes (particularly folk tunes) in mind when he wrote much of his poetry. Peter set many Kipling poems to music, either to traditional tunes or to tunes of his own, and we sing many of his arrangements here. Kipling built a house, Naulakha, in Brattleboro, VT, in the early 1890s, which has now been restored by the Landmark Trust. We have sung many of these songs at the house, since Brattleboro is also where Tony makes his home.
