Details:
Salvador Torres is a unique and gifted musical individual whose continued success in REGIONAL MEXICAN music inspires many young, up-and-coming artists. This charming, good looking, multi-talented, GRAMMY® nominated composer and ''elder statesman'', whose specialties include Norteño, Mariachi and Tejano music, has a remarkably compassionate voice that brings fans and audiences to tears during performances. Salvador touches everyone with his music. For nearly 50 years, Salvador has been one of the world''s premier Mariachi artists.

Salvador comes from a musical family, his parents both love to sing. As a child, Salvador remembers them singing in harmony in the early morning and would join them. He is indebted to his parents for their inspiration. He was born in the State of Guanajuato – the cradle of Mariachi composers in Mexico on April 21, 1942. His parents, Odon Torres and Elisa Aguilar continue to live in the same small town of Elzaus, Guanajauato, Mexico.

Salvador left home at the tender age of 16 and started his professional career singing and playing trumpet as a Mariachi in Mexico City. He arrived in the United States in 1962 in Texas, then California. Not yet old enough to play night clubs, Salvador continued playing with Mariachi groups wherever and whenever he was able. He performed throughout California with El Mariachi Cocula until he developed his own group, Mariachi Zapopan in 1965. His dream has always been to leave his mark in the Latin American music world. He received a nomination for a GRAMMY® Award in 1986 in the BEST MEXICAN/AMERICAN Performance Category for his single "UNIDOS CANTEMOS" – a song he composed soon after the devastating earthquake in Mexico City in 1985.

Salvador has enjoyed great success during his entertainment career. One of his first songs to reach international appeal was "I Love You Truly". He has performed with many world-renowned artists including: Lorenzo de Monteclaro, Amanda Miguel, Jorge Muñiz, María Victoria, Manuel Lopez Ochoa, Grupo Menudo, El Piporo, Felipe Arriaga, Las Cilcuerilles, Los Cadets de Linares, Little Joe, La Prieta Linda, Juan Valentin, Pancho Pantera, Sergio Corona, Alberto Vasquez and Judy to name a few. He has performed in many venues including the tribute for Tito Guizar, Carmen Salinas, Alejandra Avalos and Maria Victoria in Azulgrana de Atlante in Mexico City''s Festival in El Dia Mundial del Mariachi. He has also had the honor of performing for many special guests including: former President Ronald Reagan and his wife Nancy Reagan, former President Jimmy Carter, former President Gerald Ford, former President George Bush and former President of Mexico Jose Lopez Portillo. He performed for Robert Kennedy twice during his Democratic Presidential campaign in May of 1968.

Salvador has also been involved in feature film work. His ability as a strong character actor landed him roles in Crimen de Crimenes, Infierno Los Angeles with Sergio Goyri and Rodolfo Infante (El Picaro), and Mi Barrio with Tony Plana, Little Joe Hernandez, Johnny Rodriguez and Ruben Ramos.

Salvador empties his soul, his sensitivities and life''s experiences into his songs; isolating the moment for posterity.
