Lola Waxx artists all have something positive to say in their music with a return to traditional production values and arrangements and veering away from cookie-cutter lyrics, vocals and production so common in the industry today. There is no such thing as ''cut and paste'' production at Lola Waxx.
For our first release we have teamed up with Astral22, Los Angeles producer extraordinaire and a man at the top of his game. All three tracks are laced with the sultry smooth vocals of Simone. Just listen to Simone and no further explanation is necessary.
We grew up on Incognito, Brand New Heavies and the like and we’re now firmly carrying the torch into 2008 and beyond. We had a tough choice to make between ‘Starting Over’ and ‘Don’t Know What’. So we decided not to make a choice and release both as a double ‘A’ side. Let us introduce Astral22 and Simone.
We are Lola Waxx Records and this is the Lola Waxx Sound.

ASTRAL 22, THE PRODUCER
Songwriter, producer Armand Tulumello, A.K.A. Astral22 has been fascinated from the early years with all things musical. Nourished by the polyrhythmic diversity of his native New York, Astral22 reaches down to primal elements, where the roots of R&B and Soul music come alive.... full of beauty, life and rich with experience. "I create from the source, the foundation, and the feel good place where Classic Soul, Jazz, Rare Groove, Broken Beat, and World Music come together". His own "quality control" mantra of success is "if it moves the spirit, stirs the soul, and projects “100% posititvity”, I know it''s me".
Armand started producing music in 2000 after relocating to Los Angeles. With a suitcase full of lyrics and melodies, he fully embraced digital recording, midi production, along with a penchant for live musicianship. Inspired by the digital age, and the access to global artists via the miracle of My Space, "it''s being at the right place, at the right time”. The Modern Soul movement is bubbling up, and he is an integral part.
The year 2006 marked the release of "She Soul", which he wrote, produced, and promoted on his boutique label, "Trans Phatt Records". Astral22 is gaining international exposure and has begun producing for various independent projects. The debut release of "Don''t Know What" and "Starting Over" featuring Simone, will be the first Astral22 contribution to Lola Waxx Records. " I am very excited to have the opportunity to work with Al Karim and Lola Waxx from it''s inception, and fortunate to have met, and recorded with the talented Simone. It is a very satisfying feeling to create music that is definitive of what a labels identifies as it''s sound ". Right now, an additional CD single for Lola Waxx is in the works titled "Deja Vu", which will include collaboration with an up and coming UK female vocalist who will be revealed soon. "Astral22''s Modern Soul Podcast" is a side project Armand hosts and produces that features new music from talented underground Soul/R&B artists.
