Hummel: Tanze fur den Apollo-Saal Nr. 1, Opus 27, Piano Solo
With his Op. 27 Hummel composed the first series of dances dedicated to the Apollosaal, the most fascinating amusement hall of Old Vienna, which had just been opened up on the 10 of January of the same year. It includes twelve Minuets as primary dances, each followed by the obligatory Trio. The Minuet No. 6 even has a second Trio that contains an indication of a violin solo in the orchestral version. These enjoyable musical miniatures offer an interesting glimpse into the creation history of the classical waltz and the world famous Viennese dance culture. They retain their charm as dance music to the present day.
