The first sonata of the three part series, Op. 39 in G-major, displays a vivid image of the virtuoso skills Dussek mastered as a widely travelled and experienced concert pianist. The two movement opus surprises right at the beginning with a lighthearted , featuring fluent scales and broken chords as well as dynamic contrasts that put the spontaneous inspiration and brilliant touch of the interpreter to the test. The following Andantino ma moderato movement introduces two heavily contrasting themes, with theme No. 2 showing highly romantic traits. The sonata presents itself as an ideal accomplishment to any classically or romantically oriented concert performance.
