After moving to Charlotte, NC in ''96, it was clear that we had something special as we started the studio work. As producer you can only hope that your ideas will take the "life" you feel & Paula OBie(sister), Joyce & Teki OBie (my daughters), Lyle OBie (brother), Charles OBie(brother on Communion), Wanda Edwards, Rita Ross & Robert Brooks gave all I asked to make this beautiful statement as our first cd on Salexo Music. Complete w/powerful lead & background vocals, my favorite tracks are "Communion" w/Paula @ lead vocals, "The Blood" w/Joyce @ lead vocals & "The Greatest of These Is Love" w/yours truly. With this project I discovered "sequencing" w/my brother pdc-100 on tracks 1-6 & ll & with Chuck Walkers Ensonig-76 "grungy drum patches" on tracks 1 & 4, I found myself leaving it at two tracks not to overkill that process. We used Hammond B-3, Roland JV-80 for keys, bass, brass & a Korg M-1 w/Van Halen guitar patch on track 4 (to the surprise of some guitarist). Tracks 7-10 were produced in Durham, NC (before the move to Charlotte) w/my friend Willie Hill as engineer. He sequenced drums tracks for me to build the keys, bass & brass parts around. Ira Wiggins added a nice touch on the sax to "Communion". This project showed our potential in this business. We look forward to our next release (''08)as siblings do what we should be doing, making beautiful music and enjoying each others talents.
