Joan Watson is Canada''s foremost French Horn soloist, principal hornist, lecturer and educator. Joan is highly regarded as a consummate musician and skilled virtuoso. Her contribution across the country includes Principal Horn of the award winning Canadian Opera Orchestra, founding member of the prestigious True North Brass, Associate Principal Horn of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra for 14 seasons, and Principal Horn of the Esprit Orchestra, Victoria Symphony, Pacific Opera and Vancouver Opera orchestras. Joan is frequently heard on CBC radio as a chamber musician as well as with New Music Concerts. You will hear her in your home on numerous commercials, television shows and movie scores. "Songs My Mother Taught Me" is Joan''s solo CD. It is comprised of a wonderful collection of favourite soothing tunes performed in memory of Joan''s mother, Thelma Gould, and is a tribute to all mothers who give their children, during special unforgettable moments, that feeling of love, serenity and safety. A member of the University of Toronto Faculty of Music, Joan teaches horn and lectures on Performance Skills with a focus on helping young musicians create a passionate and fulfilling life of music making.
