Born and raised in Buenos Aires, Moshe Friedler served for ten years as Hazzan of Congregation ACIBA, the Israelita Community of Buenos Aires. In 1972 he moved to Mexico City where he served for three years with the city''s largest synagogue, Congregation Beth El. In Miami Friedler served Beth Moshe Congregation for a decade, then Temple Aliyah in the San Fernando Valley, California, for three years. He then joined Congregation Rodeph Sholom of Tampa, Florida, where he has served as Hazzan since 1989.
A sensitive and sentimental artist of many talents, Hazzan Friedler composed the musicals Wunder iber Wunder, Menachem Mendl (performed in Florida), Achnoses Kale, Chelem (wrote the music, performed in Florida), One Generation After (based on the book of the same name by Elie Wiesel), and others. His performances in Yiddish and Hebrew are very warmly received by audiences of all ages.
Hazzan Friedler has a deep and enduring love of the Yiddish language, music, and theatre. His purpose in making this CD is to perpetuate the Yiddish language and beautiful music. He doesn''t want these beloved folk songs to be forgotten by the new generation. His passion for this can be heard in every song of the CD, just listen!
