MP3 Reptoids - Slayed
Garage-punk heavy on attitude, courtesy of its female guitarist-vocalists, with an unlikely pair of new influences. Metal and a proclivity for catchy vocal melodies.
3 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Rock & Roll, METAL/PUNK: Post-Punk
Details:
Chicago''s Reptoids are a 3/4 female led group, known for energetic live shows that have drawn blood on more than one occasion. They have been playing their frenetic brand of punk/metal for 3 years.
Reptoids first self-titled EP scored positive local press, while its follow-up Park A Tiger, received rave reviews, including a rating of 4.5 out of five pentagrams from Metalist, described as Israel’s “premier metal magazine.” There’s no light banter here, with lyrical references to smoke, fire, death and conflict. Songs like “Mexico Fiasco” and “F.U.” are replete with buzzsaw guitars and a rumbling bottom, but still manage to be flat-out catchy. A newer song featured in its live set, “Back and Forth Forever,” sports a much poppier, almost ABBA-esque beat.
Their most recent release, the SLAYED EP, was recorded with Chicago producer Sanford Parker at Volume studios and marks Reptoids progression into a darker and more complex sound, from the ferocious ("We Are the Wolves") to playful in an I-step-on-your-face kind of way ("Tramp Stamp").
