MISOPROSTOL

Misoprostol is a prescription drug used to reduce the risk of NSAID–induced gastric ulcers in patients at high risk of complications from gastric ulcers, such as the elderly and patients with concomitant debilitating disease, as well as patients at high risk of developing gastric ulceration, such as patients with a history of ulcer.

In individuals using NSAIDs, misoprostol has not been proved to lessen the risk of duodenal ulcers.
Misoprostol should be used for as long as youre on NSAIDs.
In three-month controlled trials, misoprostol was proven to lower the risk of stomach ulcers. It had no impact on gastrointestinal pain or discomfort associated with NSAID usage when compared to placebo.
