Ahveekhy has just returned from Ghana West Africa where he has been performing for the past ten years. He has been featured with bands such as the Jazz Trio: “No Dogs Allowed” as well as “The Jazz Tone band” in Acrra, Ghana West Africa. He has also done countless performances as a one man show to rave reviews. Every where he has sung he has overwhelmed people with the uniqueness of his rich beautiful voice.
Ahveekhy started playing guitar at the age of 14 years old when his father (while teaching himself to play) offered a challenge to him that he just couldn’t resist: “If you learn to play this guitar I will give it to you”. He took up the challenge practicing day and night, many times till falling asleep with the guitar still in his hand. Needless to say his father awarded him the guitar. He and his sisters then formed a band and he performed every opportunity he got. Even when people came to the house he would entertain with his performances. Three years later he took an acoustic and an electric guitar with him to Southern California where he went to attend College. As time went on he grew in his ability to accompany himself on guitar as he sung, which was his first love.
At the age of 27 while living and working in Chicago he laid down his guitar and singing for ten years before finally resuming again in 1995 and has not looked back since. He made his professional debut in Ghana West Africa and has returned to America in June of 2007 to reside in Pittsburgh, and has already put on more than 50 performances. He has had a guest appearance in the Jazz on the Steps series and has done solo concerts at two of the Carnegie Library branches (The Hilltop and Homewood). The response from his audiences has been overwhelmingly positive. He has also performed at the Hilltop Center in the Hill District, has done a special concert at Giant Eagle in Penn Hills and performed at the Homewood Brushton Neighborhood Festival, Borders Book Store East Liberty and with the Change Tour at Manchester’s Craftsman’s Guild to name a few. Ahveekhy’s performance truly is a Divine Influence on the Mind and Soul.
