Women's Northern style contemporary pow wow drum - exciting energy, soothing beat, sweet style in Cherokee and English. All original materials by group members marks this debut CD "Daughters of the Earth" by Feather River Singers as breaking into new territory in Native music. Inspired by The Mankillers, Walela and Ulali, these women bring melody and a Cherokee touch to their pow wow songs. Recorded in a natural outdoor setting, the sounds of birds and nature were incorporated into the songs.

LE Honeycutt, artist and singer with Feather River Singers, painted the original artwork used on the CD cover and insert. Her artwork integrates the Great Smokey Mountains, the homeland of the Cherokee; the cedar, the most sacred of trees; and the Seven Clans, symbolized in the seven birds.

"Mother Earth" seeks healing for the Earth; the pow wow songs include a sneak-up, fancy shawl, round dance, two-step and a tiny tot's song. "Women Warriors of the 507th" honors Jessica Lynch, Shoshana Johnson and Lori Piestewa, and is dedicated to all military personnel and their families. Prentice Robinson, Cherokee linguist from Tulsa, Oklahoma, was project language consultant. Members of the group include Barbara Warren, Kathleen Shain, Gwen Cochran, Anna Eyre, LE Honeycutt, Seth Honeycutt and Pamela Ames.

Songs from the CD have been featured on KZFR 90.1 FM "Native Voices" in Chico, CA and KVMR 89.5 in Nevada City. The group performed live on "Take Five" Channel 19 in Yuba City. A feature article entitled "Heart Beats" was published Aug. 4, 2005 by the Appeal Democrat, Marysville, CA, on Feather River Singers and the meaning of our drum. On stage at the Miners Foundry, Nevada City, Feather Rivers Singers were broadcast live over KVMR.
