If you turn your attention to the lower left, you will see that this album has been classified within the genres experimental electronic and avant-garde electronic and the theme instrumental .To try and categorize this album even further, how about we throw in more terminology. I offer you this: micro is an albumful of experimental’ mostly illbient electronica which is largely beatless and therefore danceable only by those able to perceive very subtle pulses and in any case it aims to evoke thought rather than body movement with its absurd juxtapositions and ironic twists and turns and use of sound collage technique.
Its introductory tracks might cause listeners of B. Satinover’s micro to suspect they are hearing an artist short on melodic ability attempting to distract them with a very impressive synthesizer Well, kind listener, have a little faith and patience. A few minutes later, we really start to get somewhere as things become more complex, dense, unexpected and fun. As in the 12 tone works of Schoenberg, Berg and others, wherein minimelodies developed within repeated bars of contrapuntal atonal patterns, melodies emerge and disappear within the brief and imaginative numerically-titled pieces.
And Satinover worked with not one hardware synthesizer but 10. Plus a guitar.
