Femurs now have a new cd out!!! called: jack cafferty vs. Chuck scarborough.
FEMURS are a combination of true forces...Like thunderstroke meets the inside joke....Colin Smith and Rob Schaeffer are now true hardcore...Two friends from NY have joined forces to bring you the finest in acoustic / electric - homespun - punk - rock - magic
The music is a mix of electric pop-punk and acoustic indie/pop songs. The music has been compared to bands and artists such as: The Ramones, Jonathan Richman, Elliot Smith, Frank Black, Dr. Frank, and Paul Simon. The songs are sweet lost-love pop songs with soothing indie-rock vocals.
The Femurs started as the one-man project of Rob Schaeffer.
Rob's story is as comic and tragic as a rock and roll Woody Allen movie. He left NY in 1998 for the west coast. A Ford tempo packed with guitars, drums and His dog Joey; ended up on the shores of Santa Cruz, California. After playing music there and losing a fiance He packed up his car and headed north for the Pacific Northwest. On Halloween 1999 His car broke down in Olympia, Washington (home of K-records and Sleater Kinney). At that point with no car and very little money he hitched a ride to Seattle where he has been for three years.
Now in 2004 The Femurs have finished a compilation of years of travel, heart-ache, love, and just plain survival in the form of "the femurs".

" It always annoys me when a one man band has a plural name; such is the case with the Femurs. But usually what annoys me more about solo performers is they're usually really boring. That's not the case with the Femurs' CD, which is packed with 21 acoustic and electronic songs that range from pop punk to indie rock. One guy, Rob Schaeffer, plays everything. He layers in guitars, drums and multiple vocal tracks, giving the music a full sound. It's catchy, low-fi and fun. " Tablet Newspaper (Seattle)
