Billy Vickery began his musical career at the ripe old age of twelve, playing bass and singing vocals for a group of neighborhood kids who would eventually become the band "Silent June." This project lasted several years resulting in multiple tours of the Florida-Georgia music circuit. It also produced the commercial demo "My Three Songs" and the full length CD "Three Days In The Mirror."
After the demise of the band "Silent June", Billy had brief stints with several bands in the Jacksonville, FL and Gainesville area as a vocalist and/or bassist. Eventually Billy came to believe that a solo career might be a better route for his musical expression. Although Rock+Roll is his major love, Billy''s musical roots are very eclectic and he tried to incorporate that in his first solo work (Billy Vickery, The story of a guy who lost his band, bought a recorder and made an album) The first project (as a solo artist) is a statement of his musical beliefs. On this CD Billy is the lead vocalist, backup vocalist, bassist, lead/rythm guitar player, drummer, keyboard player, writer, producer, and engineer. It (The Story) is somewhat raw, basic and varied. " In some respects I made it for me." Billy says, " but I it is a good introduction to me and my music."
His second project (Electric Drum Machine) is due for release in early 2008 and is close to completion. This CD was produced at the request of his record label (Blue House Records). " I don''t look at it as a compromise at all" says Billy. " It is perhaps an accomodation to my record label which is truely dedicated to releasing all aspects of my musical vocabulary."
