Details:
Pianist Peter Elyakim Taussig permanently injured his right hand at the height of his career in Canada. Rather than quit, he now records on a special piano equipped with computer control (the Yamaha 9 foot Disklavier-PRO), using only his left hand.
Before his injury Peter Elyakim Taussig recorded over 200 broadcasts for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation spanning the complete chamber music of Beethoven, Schubert, Mendelssohn, Schumann, and Brahms. On the concert stage he collaborated with such musicians as John Eliot Gardner, Sir Andrew Davis, The Cleveland Quartet, Erich Kunzel, Elly Ameling, and Arthur Fiedler. Taussig has taught music at the University of Western Ontario and electronic media at the Ryerson Polytechnic Institute. He was music director of the Stratford Summer Music Festival and created the music technology curriculum for the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.
He is also the founder of PianoKids; a computer based teaching method for young children, that teaches sight-reading, composition, and math.
