I am a singer/songwriter looking to share some not-so-simple thoughts in a very simple manner. I''ve always felt that music is often the most powerful when presented acoustically. It is the honesty of the lyrics and the quiet musicianship that will hopefully allow for listeners to develop a relationship with me through my music. It was this desire that brought me to my first recording project.
The concept for the Lonesome Cosmic Gospel Stranger project began in 2005 with thoughts of moving to the western United States. Romanticized thoughts of living a simpler life in a desert environment were intermingled with the actual biographical experiences of family members a generation or two ago. With a story line on paper, I began to formulate the songs, fitting them into a musical journey of a folk nature. Along the way however, I was fortunate enough to visit Nashville a number of times on behalf of the music business, and the country influences became an important part of the project. Although the original story line become somewhat buried in the changing and developing song line-up, a vague concept remains, as represented in a very grassroots level country-folk presentation. The actual recording and production process actually began in a Missouri radio station, the same location at which Johnny Rion recorded "Iron Mountain Baby", but because of the extreme problems evident in the initial recordings, was eventually rerecorded at another location. I retained the "mono" presentation however, opting to present the material in an audio version of a black-and-white photograph, as adorns the cd jacket.
I hope you enjoy this back-to-the-basics album, and those I hope will follow.
