A Star in the Making
A. Crump a/k/a The Governor: man, son, brother, friend and leader, a small individual with a big time dream; well known on the hardcore streets of North Minneapolis by the name Gotti; has decided to follow the shooting stars, and become the first National Hip Hop artist from Minnesota to rise straight to the top of the biggest recording label in the world we all know as “fame”. Born in the roughest part of Chicago Illinois, Crump had the same dream every other little boy has of making life better. Since his first step in Minnesota, Crump has already been introduced to the music industry, yet hasn’t found his direct role for his dreams. Blasts from the past are what motivate this man to keep going. By the time Crump turned the shy age of 15, he had already been through hell and beyond. Growing up around negative influences such as drug dealing and gang banging, Crump could see no other way of living. Sadly, one day it took the life of his father being taken for him to establish the real life and duties of a man. All not going well, Crump had been shot three times and spent some of his life behind bars. Paid a visit by reality, Crump opened his eyes, and with a few famous music artist influences such as 2-pac, B.I.G, Twista, and Scarface who had risen from similar circumstances, Crump was convinced that life could be more fulfilling and worthy of living.
“Too many chiefs, and not enough Indians,” quoted by Crump when his own label, Miss Understood Records, star of success slowly began to unfold. After nine years in the world of music, Crump was not ready to throw in the towel. Crump continued his journey for a better life with the birth of his second label, Flippin State Records (F.S.R.). After large amounts of time spent in what he though was his key in the door, he was surprised with yet another closed door when F.S.R went like water down the drain. At the end of his rope, and out of ways to better himself, a star shot past him and opened the door to Up Topp Entertainment. It was there he found his place and in the year 2002, Crump had another original label, Faculty Mobb Records. With great success, Crump has held as many as 5 artists under his label, but none were as devoted, passionate, and as loyal to the business as Crump; therefore, he remains the sole artist under the label. What better way to come up and make your mark than by yourself?
Spitting rhymes from his heart and past trials and tribulations, Crump has been rewarded for his commitment and patience. He has been the opening act for some of the biggest and most famous artists today known as Cam’s right hand man, Juelz, the mixtape king Chamillionaire, Tripple 6 Mafia, MIMS, Young Joc, and many others. From all his accomplishments, Crump has found his final resting place in the hands of YHOG, Inc Management: a place where everything is done from the heart and through the mind, a place that has been where Crump is from and gone where Crump is dreaming. With one child to raise, Crump has repositioned his stand on life and is ready to take his rightful spot at the top .Solidifying his relationship with YHOG, Inc, Crump has developed into what is now considered an unstoppable machine, with the release of his first album, Street Governor, in 2007.
