Brian McClure writes songs from the heart. The Seattle singer/songwriter has had music in his head for years, performing for his family and friends as he chronicles his experiences with his guitar and voice.
With the release of his debut album, “Angels of Alluwe”, fans will get a look inside Brian’s head -- and heart -- for the first time. What they’ll find is an eclectic collection of songs as varied as the life Brian’s led.
"The inspiration for my music comes from within my life, and the experiences I have had the thrill of riding on," Brian said.
Brian first began experimenting with music when he was 11, blowing on the trombone in his fifth-grade music class. He realized he wanted to pursue music after he bought his first albums, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, "I Love Rock and Roll," and Iron Maiden "Number of the Beast."
When he saw the opportunities musicians had to express themselves, "my mind was just crazy with ideas," he said.
The trombone was replaced by a guitar, and countless hours were spent alone in his bedroom as those ideas began to evolve into songs.
"Each song is different in its own way," Brian said. "Sometimes you will sit down and write one from start to finish and sometimes it might take 10 years. It all depends on the story your mind wants to tell."
The song "Flip Side" is one of his original songs, though it’s been through a few revisions since it was initially played in his parents’ living room. The same is true of the song “One Planet”. The original version was written in the early 1990s.
“The album, in its own funny way, chronicles a story from start to finish about my life,” Brian said. “It wasn’t meant to be like that, but that’s how it ended up and it all made sense.”
Brian’s passion for music is evident as he carries listeners through “Angels of Alluwe”.
Each song has a special meaning to Brian and “if you know me you will know the story. If you don’t just enjoy the tunes.”
