ROCKIN'' THE YEEHAW -- “The new songs are more rockin’...with a good country nougat center.” Bill Childs (https://www.tradebit.com)

Two-stepping right on the heels of their successful 2007 debut CD release, The BummKinn Band''s newest release Rockin’ the YeeHaw includes their newest collection of 16 Texas-sized ditties plus a bonus story track.

As one of the few artists to tackle ‘country music for kids,’ native Texan and lead singer Rosie Mae BummKinn (Kimber Breaux) looked to the issues in adult country songs but gave them a pint-sized twist. Busted Big Wheels, boo-boos and even broken hearts take center stage in these appealing family tunes.

Their wide-ranging family appeal was generated during their many high-profile performances in 2007 including the Austin City Limits Music Festival, the Stagecoach Festival, the CMA Music Festival (Nashville) and the Big State Festival.

Right from the get-go, Rockin’ the YeeHaw takes listeners on a musical journey that begins with “The BummKinn Band Ditty,” a call-and-response tune that inspires live audiences to swing, sing and shout along. As BummKinn bandmates Big Red BummKinn (Sam Nickell) and Mighty Maverick BummKinn (Ryan Bueter) slyly state, “the harmonies were so purdy we had to put it on the CD!”

The first 12 tracks roam the country range -- from the traditional influences of Hank Williams and the hillbilly hip of Loretta Lynn on songs including “Woke Up On The Wrong Side of the Bed” and “You Broke My Heart on the Swingset” -- to a Willie Nelson-styled “Farm Road 22” and the David Allen Coe inspired “Perfect Kid''s Country Song.” Songs including “I’m Alright” channel southern rock stylings while rock-a billy influenced the song “I Dropped My Ice Cream.” There’s even a nod to the alternative country scene with a wink to Lucinda Williams on “Crab Bit My Toe” which was inspired by Breaux’s Uncle Bubba.

Following the topical songs, the CD’s remaining four tunes are story-based ditties that reveal the antics of the country folks in FISH IN A TREE COUNTY. Of course, these songs were influenced by the band’s mascot, Joe Bear BummKinn, known affectionately as the “Buck Owens” of the stuffed animal world -- a teddy-sized fella with a grizzly-sized personality.

Beginning with the Beverly Hillbillies inspired tune and Joe Bear’s theme song “ Hullaballooey” – the song follows the teddy as he moves from the big city of Stone’s Throw (where the BummKinns live) to the small town of Hullaballoo. Once there, the residents there go a little ‘hullaballooey’ to have such a big country music celebrity in their midst. On tour, kids love to giddy-up to the Hank William’s-inspired song “Miss Giddy,” or belly-laugh to the Charlie Pride tribute song “Boss Dawg.” But it has been doing the back-stroke to “Swimming Swallow’ Crik” that has parents joining in for a dosey do!

The CD ends with a bonus story track, “Rhinurtle Elesnail” that fans of the band demanded be included. Inspired by the odd combinations happening in everything from foods (brocco-flower) to animals (Labra-doodle), Breaux imagined the various creatures that might be created and what would occur if a Rhinoceros-Turtle-Elephant-Snail traveled to a western town ala Charlie Daniels and his famous “Devil Went Down to Georgia” song.

Joining the band on the CD are musicians including Joe Moe (Jordan Shapiro), Big Boss (Howard Lipp), PJB (Patrick Hildebrand), Iddle Biddle (Mike Starr), Sticks (Jeff Hanes), and Picks (Cliff Wagner) who may also join them at events as various BummKinn cousins!

In 2008, the band has been booked to return to the Stagecoach Festival, the saucy country sister to Coachella in Palm Springs in May and will make an appearance at the CMA Music Festival in Nashville in June.
