Details:
Emily Bate''s third full-length release, "The Fever in the Feast," was recorded in her home studio in West Philadelphia & an elementary school in her home state of Michigan.
The album begins with the words "There was a mistake at the hospital when I was a baby / & they send me home with the wrong family..." and by the time it reaches its conclusion, you''ve experienced the perspective of both a child and an adult, alternately sweet, uncertain, dark & brimming with reckless energy.
"Fever" is defined by Emily''s commanding voice & supported by a broad palette of acoustic sounds--ukulele, banjo, dulcimer, xylophone, metallophone, lush vocal arrangements & her increasingly intricate guitar playing.
All of her music is rooted in her love for live performance--in the last year she sang in a 50-member women''s choir, curated a neighborhood house concert series, and toured solo with her ukulele on public transportation.
