A CD for Healing and Restoration
How these songs came to be: After spending most of my early adulthood struggling with depression, I entered a season where the Lord drew me to Himself to show me His love. Wholeness and freedom were granted me slowly but surely. New melodies and words came as I worshiped the Lord, songs that gave expression to the love and adoration for Jesus that was growing in my heart. 8 of the songs on the Hearthealer project were written and composed through this time of inner restoration.
I was amazed to see how the arrangements and overall sound of these songs came together! My prayer was that the Lord would guide and orchestrate each step and anoint the music to minister healing, peace and restoration to those who would be lending ear and heart to it.
I was thrilled to have Frank van Essen of the British band Iona arrange, play and record strings on 4 of the songs. His beautiful arrangements and skillful playing and recording contributed greatly towards the quality of the finished product. There are 70 minutes of music on the cd.
How do I describe this music? It''s very melodic, somewhat dreamy, but not packed full of instruments and sounds. We really wanted to create a healing and restoring atmosphere on this cd, because that''s the story of what the Lord has done in my life. May your life be greatly impacted and the Lord become very real and dear to you as you listen to this music!

Jan Gudmund Skrivervik’s ”HeartHealer” plays on the inner strings. The music both counsels and applies balm to the soul and leaves you in a thoughtful mode. When the thorns of life are multiple, these tones pull them out. This cd brings comfort to the weary and oil to the wounded. Without being melancholic, the music is soothing and does not leave you in a sentimental state, but rather lifts up the downhearted. I envision Ireland and stave churches when I allow the imagination to describe the music in pictures. Here is beauty of voice, an advanced piece of music, void of superficiality. In its details, this CD is a thoroughly quality product to which the tasteful cd-book also testifies. It deserves a wide audience. With the exception of one song, all are written and composed by Skrivervik.
