Julene John is of a quiet disposition but her persona on stage is quite the opposite. She embodies her songs and sings with such passion and flair that the intense impact she makes on every occasion simply cannot be forgotten.
Early on, it was clear that Julene had a passion for singing as she would often volunteer her vocals as her grandfather played familiar tunes on his guitar at home. One visit to church with her grandmother ignited a deep appreciation for Gospel music in Julene that never stopped burning. She got her first taste of the stage as a member of the Junior Choir and over time, she was promoted to lead singer, then to soloist and finally Senior Choir Director. Meanwhile, at College Julene had the privilege of being a member of a Gospel acapella group called SOUL- Sisters of unity and love. She remained their soprano/ lead singer for a period of seven years during which the group was in high demand. Eventually the group dissolved because three of its five members migrated to pursue career goals. However, Julene continued on solo projects, becoming popular among small crowds making appearances at youth development functions and being booked for tea parties, weddings, and wedding anniversary celebrations.
The young woman aspires to reach lives world-wide with her brand of Gospel music aimed at bringing people to repentance and enhancing their reverence for God. Song writing is a skill that Julene has been nurturing for over a decade. Her list of originals is dear to her and represents the day to day emotional overtones that a Christian faces in his or her journey. Her debut single ‘Change’ released March, 2008 is literally a snapshot of at least one point in any Christian’s life while in that challenging transitional phase. The song makes a bold declaration and emanates with sweet surrender unto God.
Julene’s voice delivers emotions that are alternately sweet and tender, then dynamic and piercing. Her music is as sincere as her personality. Her album is coming soon.
