Releasing his first album in the summer of 2007, Kevin Toqe has come into the folk-pop scene with little fanfare. As an independent artist living in San Luis Obispo, California, Kevin continues to write passionately with the goal to express his heart-felt lyrics with the instrumentation taking a supporting role. Every song comes from a place of pain and victory, love and loss, depth and honesty. His songs are musical conversations with God, reflections on how life does not come as expected many times but that joy can be found in every situation.
In comparison, some have likened Kevin Toqe''s style to the sounds of John Mayer, Amos Lee, Colbie Caillat, and James Taylor. The album has a nostalgic feel in that most of the songs were not recorded with click-tracks, so they are able to eb and flow at a more natural pace. Also, in the final production processes, the songs were not crushed by over-compression so that the album will not leave your ears feeling digitally "tired." The last three tracks are bonus songs that cannot be found on the original "Love Is" album.
