The year was 1996 and I was playing 6 nights a week at a really cool piano bar on Indian Rocks Beach in central Florida called "The Pub." Between 10 and 20 singers would show up nightly to do a few tunes with me and help out with the show. I decided to produce a CD of the first 20 singers to sign on for the project. The roster was full within a few days, and we had all agreed to share the production and manufacturing expenses to be repaid from sales profits. This CD includes singers who say they only do it for fun, to singers who are, or were at one time, professionals. Now I´ll write a few words about each of my singing friends included on this project.

1. Hudson Reed is a throwback entertainer who will go to any length to entertain people, including the use of props and costumes during his segment. His rendition of "Volcano" always included some sort of rasta wig and hat. I´m not sure yet how that ties in with Jimmy Buffet.

2. George Kay was a bridge painting contractor, now retired, who envisioned himself as a Frank Sinatra or Tony Bennett style singer. With a great, relaxed stage presence, he would belt out his favorite songs which must have numbered in the 100´s.

3. Sport Kennedy is the handyman who always had a special price for good looking babes, which included half price and showing up wearing just his tool belt. Check out his Johnny Mathis impression on TWELFTH OF NEVER. It´s Really amazing.

4. Ron Kert is still singing at piano bars in Florida and Virginia, and recently sang one of my original songs, IMPOSSIBLY CRUEL, at the historic New York nightclub called Birdland. Ron really puts some huge emotiion into this Johnnie Ray song.

5. Kathy Cook is a part time professional singer while holding down a day job in retail clothing. I just love her performance of ALL I ASK OF YOU from the Phantom.

6. Jan Bragdon loves her country music, and does a great yodeling segment on her version of COWBOY SWEETHEART.

7. Ken Johnson is one of the most easy going guys I´ve ever met, with a smooth as silk baritone voice. He does a Smoooth rendition of BIRTH OF THE BLUES.

8. John Shutte passed on a while back and I attended his funeral. He was an accomplished dixieland style trumpeter and he willed me his Al Hirt trumpet which I still cherish. You never have and never will hear a version of BILL BAILEY like this. The last chorus is just AMAZING!

9. Eddie Rivers is a very fine country singer who was kind enough to learn and record one of my songs, THE TIME SHE NEVER CRIED. It´s the only non cover song here, and Eddie really does a great performance.

10. Jeni Hillery also passed away recently. She was a piano playing singer but loved to come in and sing a few with me. This is a novelty song from the era of Billie Holiday, and Jeni has her own treatment unlike anybody else.

11. Patti Donn is still singing in Florida in the piano bars. She was an in demand professional in the 60´s through the 80´s, and performed regularly in the northeast, mostly New York. This lady can belt a song.

12. Cheryl Torok did not want to sing alone on this CD, so we decided to do a classic duet cover by Neil Diamond and Barbara Streisand.

13. Fran Smith took a fun guy song and changed the gender thing around. She definitely SOLD me on this one, and I loved playing the up tempo piano solo part in the middle. Fran is capable of doing a whole night of music with ease.

14. Bill Zisa is still an entertainment agent in Florida and has performed with many different groups through the years. He lends a certain smoothness to DESPERADO that I think is very refreshing.

15. Harvey Maslow is definitely a country singer and it shows. He also plays his guitar on this tune with me which really helped fill out the sound. We are still in touch online, and Harvey says he´s still drinkin´ beer, chasin´ women and pickin´ guitar.

16. Rita Williams claims to be only a karaoke singer, and was a little hesitant to be on the project until I gave her a lot of encouragement. I think she did great on a very difficult song.

17. Barclay Boyd cut a complete CD in my home studio, and this track is from that project. Barclay is from my hometown of Dallastown, PA. I understand Dallastown has 2 street lights now instead of just one at the town square. GO WILDCATS!!!!!!

18. Annie Tabacjar was one of the friendliest Pittsburg ladies I´ve ever met. She knew she was not a singer, but one night I asked her to come up and help me with STROKIN´and it eventually turned into this off the wall question and answer session. It´s a little bit sexually explicit, but not as gross as the original lyrics to me. Please don´t send us any nasty letters. We were not singing in church.

19. Harry Gaines had a perfect right to ask me how his song got sandwiched between two raunchy novelty songs. Sorry Harry and I think you are right. It should have been placed before Eddie and Annie.

20. Annie´s husband Eddie can''t sing and he admits that, so I helped sing as much as possible since he had the cash and wanted to be on the project. Eddie had more fun than anyone I´ve known, and he also joins us on SHOW ME THE WAY TO GO HOME.
This CD truly captured a slice of my life and career that was very special and rewarding, and listening to it will always bring back those fond memories. Thanks again to all my friends who helped make it happen.

People who are interested in should consider this download.
