About the band:
No one enjoys being the new kid in town. We all do what we need to survive. Some join the rank and file, some take flight from the tops of buildings, and some turn to music as an outlet. After moving to California, three transplants and two locals, all complete strangers, found each other on the internet. Bound by an uncommon passion for song-writing, these five musicians have become one as goldenstate. Combining the arena-rock styles of Pearl Jam and Smashing Pumpkins, with a deep respect for the classics of Beatles to Zeppelin, goldenstate are an anomaly in the San Francisco Bay rock scene.
About the CD:
Released March 1st, goldenstate''s debut EP, "seconds", was recorded in 100% analog glory on 2-inch tape at John Vanderslice''s Tiny Telephone in San Francisco. Mixed by Jay Pellicci (Deerhoof, Erase Errata, Dilute) and mastered by John Golden (Green Day, Sonic Youth, Chris Isaak), the CD contains six tracks ranging from high-energy rock(The Amazing Shrinking Man) to gentler and more introspective pieces(Lost at Sea.)
