MP3 John Gruntfest - Free Music Festival Orchestra
Harmonic music in the style of Charles Ives and Trane''s Ascension
4 MP3 Songs
CLASSICAL: Orchestral, WORLD: African
Details:
The Free Music Festival Orchestra composed and conducted by John Gruntfest lived from 1979 until 1982. This recording was done live at the 1979 San Francisco Free
Music Festival. It has been called an "Ascension for the new millenium" and is one of the most, if not the most, intense musical harmonic clusters ever created. Good speakers or good headphones are needed and the volume should be as loud as one can take. This is maximal music. It is not minimal. It has two harmonic sections and the third section is a Venda occarina duet orchestrated for the Free Music Festival Orchestra. This music took the audience right out of their bodies. Listen to the applause out the end of FMF 4. Very influenced by Charles Ives.
Chosen Best and Most Important CD of the year 2004 by Henry Kuntz in the Transbay Calender
