bOydestiNy was born in Hartford, Connecticut as Michael Anthony Brocco at 12:00 am October 27th 1985 to Maria Brocco of (Broccastella province of Italy) and Emile Crick his father. The family under financial pressure was unable to keep Michael and he was placed up for "grabs." In December 1995 Michael was placed in a loving home and raised by his adopting Father Bobby Thornton of British Descent. During his childhood one of his foster parents took Michael abroad to the UK to London. As Michael put it the experience changed his life and he fell in love with London and Oxfordshire at a very young age. " I was amazed by the history of the region and the beautiful and generous people of the UK". "Since that time I''ve always considered the UK my home away from home".
As a child in Connecticut Michael showed early musical promise playing the String Bass at the age of six and performing in various school activities. At age ten he took up trumpet and played well enough to participate in a citywide youth orchestra in Hartford Connecticut. Then by age eleven Michael had moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and found his true instrumental calling as he puts it...in the piano. He quickly learned this instrument and joined his first band at age thirteen called "A Different Class" they performed throughout the Tri-state area and were featured on numerous Television shows. Michael also sang in this band and at this time began to write musical and lyrical content for both himself and other groups. By age eighteen Michael had copywritten over twenty original pieces. As an extremely gifted pianist Michael offered his keyboard playing services to numerous famous and not so famous groups, in which he was able to perform and share the stage with a number of artists including Queen Latifah, Big Daddy Kane Christina Aguilera Patti LaBelle, Freddy Jackson, Regina Belle, Bill Whithers and more.
In January 2008 Michael penned the tune entitled "You Got Me Going" also known as "The Emma Watson Song". His inspiration of course was the very beautiful and provocative Emma Watson of the Harry Potter franchise. "I''ve been a Harry Potter Fan since the Philosopher''s Stone, so I was familiar with her for a great part of my life, as she matured into a young woman I found myself somewhat amazed by her, and this inspired me to write the song". Not satisfied with just writing the song Michael set a new goal to make a professional music video. So he then wrote a screenplay for the song and used his drawing talents to storyboard the music video. Putting his producers hat on he went to Nevada, Philadelphia and Miami, Florida found locations, auditioned and hired dancers and choreographers and actors and a director of Photography. Then In March and April 2008, he and his crew and talent began film production for the Music Video began which ended April 6. The Final Video Product was released to worldwide acclaim on April 15th 2008, Emma Watson''s Birthday and is viewable on bOydestiny''s YouTube page. This represented the first public use of his performer psuedonym "bOydestiNy".
After the initial public release of the Emma Watson Song, Michael, bOydestiny worked on the completion of the full CD, presented here entitled "Modern Times" The CD has a mixture of songs that genre wise fall under the general umbrella of Pop, R&B, but really they go far beyond this. Songs such as "I''m Not Too Young" and "With Just One Touch" have obvious Caribbean and Latin influences with memorable beats and catchy hooks that stay with you hours after listening to the cuts. The lead cut "It Was You" features bOydestiNy both singing and rapping on top of a smooth Hip-Hop Groove that has a nice laid back summertime feel to it. "I conceptualized the music for this song during a trip to St George a gulf coast beach here in northwest Florida, it was a beautiful day with beautiful people having a great time on the white sands of this Floridian isle". One of the many influences on bOydestiNy''s music has been Michael Jackson. This is clear in the song "Gurl Stop Playin" this upbeat tune has some serious production behind it with its super rhythmic groove and its drop beats, Michael''s vocal performance has been compared to Michael Jackson in numerous pre-marketing surveys on this song in particular. The "Modern Times" CD has a very fast pace which is broken up in the middle by the very beautiful and romantic ballad "How Will I Ever Know" which was rated the number one cut on the CD in several pre sale surveys. One survey participant commented on her survey sheet " I would play this song at my wedding". This song shows not only the diversity in bOydestiNy''s singing style but also shows his ability as a songwriter to compose a truly classic pop ballad tune. The upbeat "old skool" stylized "Missing You" is the eighth selection on the CD and features fellow Philadelphian artists "United Soul". "I wrote this song in the basement of my father''s house in philly where I ran a small recording studio. After completing the music tracks I wanted to explore using some different vocal styles on my compositions so I called my boy Dan and asked him for some suggestions. Dan introduced me to "United Soul" and I was blown away with their soulful sound . So I taught them the lyrics and melody and we cut the song there in my basement in 2 hours. The vocal you hear on the final CD version are the same one they recorded in my basement"
The ninth tune on the CD entitled "Bring Dat O''er "ere" once again shows the songwriting virtuosity of bOydestiny. This time the song is a fast upbeat dance club tune with a "T-Pain" reminescent laced hook Line that helps drive this contagious tune. The CD closers are "Memory of a Rose" a latin flavored mid tempo ballad and "Girl with the Golden Eyes" a rock influenced up tempo dance tune. " I wanted to let the public know some of my other influences which include people like Leeny Kravitz, and modern groups like the Jonas Brothers and others. Also in the "OutKast release SpeakerBoxx they also expolred their "rock" side. I wanted to explore this side as well and "Girl with the Golden Eyes was the result" . This song also shows the instrumental virtuosity of bOydestiny as he played all the instruments on the cut including drums, keyboards and electric and acoustic guitar.
"This project represents my first solo release as a vocalist/rapper/musician and I wanted to give the music listening community a little bit of all my different sides. I am very proud of the CD and I think people will really like the songs and beats I''ve come up with" For the future bOydestiNy is working on additional Music Videos to support the album and is now considering US and international touring options.
