Best known as jazz musician I wanted to do something different to preserve the rich heritage of these hymns. My goal was to produce a CD tht summoned the heart of the listener to a place of reflection and worship in God''s presence. I wanted to preserve the sanctity of these beloved hymns while playing them for you with various woodwind instruments. It is my hope that this project will create an atmosphere ideal for your personal worship, lift your spirit, sooth your mind and turn you thoughts toward our wonderful Lord and Savior.
I also decided to branch out and finally sing a hymn. I chose my all time favorite hymn to sing - "My Jesus I Love Thee"
Melody, my daughter is a Sophomore at Columbia College, Columbia SC, majoring in music education. I decided to invite her to sing as well. You can hear Melody''s beautiful voice on "His Eye Is On The Sparrow" and "O The Deep, Deep Love Of Jesus"
Most of the CD is saxophone. I also played clarinet and flute.
