Christine Sheil Salhany is a vocalist and flutist working as a freelance musician in Omaha, Nebraska. Her flutistic training includes a BA in flute performance Northwest Missouri State University and private studies with Barbara Leibundguth (Minneapolis Symphony), Julia Bogorad (St. Paul Chamber Orchestra) Ervin Monroe (Detroit Symphony) and Nestor Herszbaum (Kansas City Symphony). Vocal training includes the late Alexandra Hunt (Met, La Scala). Christine currently studies with David Rubens of the Actors Forum in Chicago. For the past 25 years Christine has worked as a music minister within the Archdiocese of Omaha, including her current position as choir director at Boys'' Town. She can be heard in recital singing rarely heard art songs of the 19th and 20th Centuries. Christine enjoys singing Popular and Jazz Ballads and can be heard in various Omaha establishments and private engagements with the Jimmy Mitchell Trio. Recordings by Christine and produced by her music and creative works company include In Paradisum, O Magnum Mysterium: The Advent of The Lord, and Hear Me Prayin'': Spirituals and Hymns. Her most recently released recordings are “Crossing Genres” and “Day Dream: Jazz and Pop Ballads”.
