Details:
CHANGE THE STATION has been delivering an inventive brand of vigorous and plush alternative rock music to NYC, and beyond, for the past 2 1/2 years. Each band member''s style and influences brings something vital to the band''s musical formula. In doing so, they''ve created a distinct and textured sound.
The band is fronted by the gritty and catchy guitar and vocal presence of Ian Jacobs. Using unruly blues-tones, spacious delays and robust vocal deliveries, Jacobs digs into a song with a reckless abandon that is enthralling on recordings and on stage. As the backbone of the song structure Lisa Poole''s drumming provides powerful and focused dynamics and a precision to Change the Station''s overall sound. With pin-point attack and fierce drum fills Poole drives the melodies around each twist and turn, like race car on smooth pavement. The torso of the songs are held in place by Michelle Feliciano''s tendencies for hammering dark and decorative bass melodies into the rhythm section of each arrangement. Feliciano also uses electro-synth lines on a hand full of songs... a progressive element and useful device for their style of music.
Having a feminine rhythm section and a male vocalist gives Change the Station a sense of originality and a striking sense of style, and this factor can intrigue an audience at a glance. But after a closer look into the landscape of Change the Station you see that, in addition to their unique lineup, these three musicians produce earnest and intense rock songs.
"This band is rather infectious with their coolness and insatiable grooves. Change the Station... generates tunes ripe with minimalist grit and tight drum beats... a welcome relief to the drudgery of cookie cutter bands out of Brooklyn. Rock with shoe-gazing soul; (they) combine raw underground energy with punchy pocketed beats that change unpredictably, yet flawlessly with all the edge of a rock band... an awesomely potent and memorable sound." -NYC''s Deli Magazine
