Details:
Mike Wood has been involved with music for over 45 years. He gravitates toward his Celtic roots in his compositions. He began his serious work during the 60''s with two liturgically-oriented albums which still might be found at various garage sales and flea markets.(not kidding) He lives in Lancaster, Ohio with his wife Patty enjoying the fruits of three grown children and ten grandchildren. The music in this CD "Up On Jackson Street" has been composed over the years and, in a fashion, fills in the spaces of his biography. The following poem was written by a friend and is on the back of "Jackson Street". It gives a synopsis of the artist''s journey.
JACKSON STREET
My early years were on Jackson Street
Thinking no better time would I see
I believed my world was so complete
Not knowing the man I would be
Truly a time of love and great joy
An era of innocence I recall
But, of course, I was such a young boy
Not realizing my world was so small
We were young and untainted of the world''s ills
And very secure in our sphere
Our lives were simple without many frills
But values taught are still clear
Then I left to make my way
Amidst the sadness and tears
Even then, I knew there''d come a day
I would conquer any frailties and fears
To help me along in this task
Great friends I have come to know
Never the one''s to wear a mask
Their truth helped me to grow
My family, now, has helpd me too
With strength I can''t compare
They taught me what I already knew
That God''s love is always there
And though my journey continues still
With other challenges to meet
I admit the learning has been a thrill
But I''ll never forget Jackson Street
