Haunting electronica, hypnotic beats, and on top of that, Stella Bergsma's incredible voice; this is popmusic for adults. 'If iuno was a legal drug, I would take it.' (mystery and misery)

On the internet they were a rumour. A well kept secret of music-communities and messageboards. Now their new cd Everything Nothing has been released by AKH records, and it has harvested great reviews, proclaiming them _the_ newcomer of the year. Don't miss out on this!

Iuno are Stella Bergsma and Steven de Munnik, sometimes assisted on stage by the Iuno Laboratory, an ever changing collective of musicians, vj's, and multimedia-artists.

Everything Nothing (2004, AKH records)

Reviews: (18 09 2004): 'Singer Stella Bergsma and producer-performer Steven de Munnik produced twelve world-class tracks on their release 'Everything Nothing'. Steven managed to produce an album full of excellent soundscapes without any triviality - but what Stella did with her voice is almost unbelievable. From Beth Gibbons' mournful voice (in 'Nothing') to Martina Topley-Bird's clang (in 'Fracture'), she does everything. But without any comparison, she has a voice and style of her own, worth of the biggest names in triphop-music. If something comparable doesn't happen, we have _the_ newcomer of the year: ladies and gents, all hail Iuno with 'Everything Nothing'!' (17 05 2004): 'Stella has a sexy sultry diva voice and Steven has an ear for textured electronica that resonates wonderfully with Stella's lyrics, which are influenced greatly by fear. If Iuno was a legal drug, I would take it.' 'They don't simply write songs. They write poetry, with compass, with elements being used on their proper places. They don't over use anything, neither the instrumentation nor the vocals. They aim for an equilibrium. And that's complex; the final result is complexity. Is it bad? No, not in any way. That's the difference when you or me, most of the people, write a text and when a poet does it. They can say in one opus what we need a whole life to just try to describe. Iuno did it on Everything Nothing: they described beauty.
Can beauty be dispensable in one's life? No. This is an essential album.' (01 06 2003): 'Their music is immediatly catching, their sound as good as the most famous bands and Stella's voice is a drug!' (28 09 2004): 'I'm finding touches of moloko, kosheen, even portishead in there, and Fracture is a storming fusion of dark drum'n'bass breaks, nasty keyboard riffs and great vocals courtesy of Stella Bergsma. The band are a collective - seemingly shepherded by Steven de Munnik - and, judging by some of the photography on the site, also featuring a string section. A good discovery, well worth checking out further.'

Dutch Penthouse magazine (march 2005): 'Although the songs on Everything Nothing strongly differ from one another - from the wildly danceable Fracture to the tranquil Vertigo - the whole album clearly breathes an atmosphere that's sexy, sultry, jazzy, and sometimes so dark that you fancy yourself in a Dracula movie. But Stella's quicksilver voice provides the perfect counterbalance.' (march 2005): 'Everything Nothing is unquestionably catchy from the first listening. Good trip-hop with beautiful female vocals, a very controlled sound and melodies that seduce without becoming too facile. Singer Stella Bergsma, who readily acknowledges her passion for thrillers and horror-movies, creates a personal universe made of words that mainly evoke fear and love, using a timbre and ease of voice that reminds of the glorious elder ones.'

Het Parool (05 04 2002) about the live show at Borderkitchen: '(...) after the intermission, it was time for the real acts. And especially the first one impressed; that Nico-ish diva who besung an icy revenge.
The audience grew silent.'

Roughtrade (31 08 2001): 'Compelling beats, accompanied by tension building strings and rattling electronica. On top of that Stella Bergsma's sexy vocals. Think Lamb, mixed up with Goldfrapp.'
