MP3 Jaime & Becky - Jaime and Becky

Jaime and Becky are an acoustic duo from Portland, Oregon. Their captivating story telling and sultry voices lure you into their experiences from taking the bus to falling out of love.

10 MP3 Songs
FOLK: Folk Pop, ROCK: Acoustic

Details:
Jaime and Becky write acoustic music, textured in melody, similar to summer green in their native Midwest, and they sing with a potency, like humidity, heavy on the heart when you hear it. Their storytelling, as traditionally as their sultry voices, has a lure of honest language; taking the bus, falling out of love.
They debuted their music in 1999, in the college music scene of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Shows were successful and the girls kept writing, and in 2003 they took their guitars to Portland, Oregon. Not knowing anyone, they spent their time getting to know their songs, well enough to trust them at open mics. The singer/songwriter scene provided Jaime and Becky a circle of friends and fellow performers, with whom they''ve opened for and headlined around town for the last couple years. With a self-titled record complete, as well as their first West Coast tour, the duo continues to play and reside in Portland.

"If you''ve ever seen Jaime & Becky live, you''ll know how eagerly we''ve all been anticipating their debut album. It has now arrived and captures the "Jaime & Becky experience" splendidly (with the tasteful addition of some percussion and cello). The record showcases satisfying acoustic guitar interplay between the duo on such gems as "Rusty Bike" and "Not How They Seem". And the harmonies - you must hear these harmonies! - so breathtaking in their purity and simplicity. This is the sound of something truly real. Musical touchtones for me include: Marine Girls (and early-period Everything But The Girl), Rose Polenzani, and Pooka. Definitely one of my favorite singer-songwriter records of the year!"

- John B. Jones, KPSU Radio

"These two are the best kept musical secret in the Midwest. They have been playing for private audiences for years and it is our great pleasure to finally talk them into playing at the Cafe''. Their harmonies will make your heart stop and their wonderfully interwoven guitar chords will leave you spellbound!"

- Acoustic Cafe'', 2002
