"Chaos Days seem to have risen out of nowhere in the past few months. Having built up a steady following amongst the South East’s pop-punk scene, the ‘Under the Weather E.P.’ is set to make waves nationwide upon release.
‘I’m Yours’ is a punchy, heartfelt opener, with harmonies aplenty and a chorus ready-made for summer romances. With lyrics that reflect the hardships the band endured to get these songs out to the public (are we all the same/in a loser’s game/This one’s for you/half empty and used), it’s a song that wears it’s heart on its sleeve, shamelessly.
‘Pretty Cold’ and ‘Under the Weather’ follow on in much the same big chorus/bouncy rhythm manner, and perfectly display the quality of the production on this short E.P. With crystal clear guitars and perfectly balanced vocals, Chaos Days have clearly taken the time to tweak their songs to perfection.
Closing with an acoustic track may be predictable, although ‘Fading to Grey’ is better than most. Stripped down to just vocals and acoustic guitar, Chaos Days take the opportunity to display their skill in its purest form. It’s a humble ending to an extremely enjoyable E.P.
