Details:
The Headband was formed at good ole'' Ham Tech (Hamilton College) in the fall of 2005 when James “Franklin the Turtle” Head accidentally walked into a practice room where Andrew “Punch you in the face” Root was playing bass. Andrew extended the invitation to play some music and James readily accepted. From there Andrew recruited his drummer roommate, “Riddim” Ryan Calabrese, and they began playing in a quartet, with Jason Oberholtzer on keys. The early incarnations of the band, tentatively called "Heading Nowhere", practiced in the basement projector room of the Kirner Johnson building. In the spring of ’06 Jason quit the band and Alex “Mellow Guy” Hodosy answered an ad for a keyboard player. The Headband then began playing free parties for the Exiles, Hamilton College’s Men’s Rugby Club, and demand for their services has been growing ever since. In the three years since their inception, the Headband has won the Hamilton College Battle of the Bands, recorded an EP, a debut album ("Grandma''s House" July 2008), and shared the stage with the likes of Kinetix, Filligar, and Citizen Cope.
