JOHN THE BAPTIST
Baptize The Game
There are deserts in the lives of men today; deserts of poverty and distress, deserts of pain and dissolution, and deserts of anger and fear. John the Baptist was called a forerunner. He was named "a voice of one"; a voice of one calling in the desert telling his listeners to prepare the way and make straight the path for the Lord.
John was a Jew, most likely speaking Hebrew in a gruff voice, being Judean. He wore clothes of camel hair and ate locusts, probably startling most that came upon him. Yet they listened. In the deserts of their hearts bubbled up brooks of refreshing water, all from the mouth of one that could speak in a language only they could understand.
Today, there is a new forerunner with the same name and the same heart, to prepare the way and make straight the path for the Lord. For in the deserts of sin and deception, there is still one crying out to youth everywhere. His name is John Wesley Moorer a.k.a., John the Baptist.
Moorer''s unique blend of RAP and Caribbean propels him into the periphery of the urban youth culture without dissociating him from the traditional and contemporary music that anyone can enjoy. Since the tender age of five, Moorer has had a wide variety of influences, drawing musical inspiration from contrasting genres like gospel, soul, northern style rap, and some from his immediate family rooted in Nassau, Bahamas. Those influences become brilliantly alive on his sophmore project "Baptize The Game." Now, fusing his veteran rhyming skills with tight beats and ingenious producing, Reconcile Entertainment, Moorer''s new record label prepares for a Spring 2004 national release of an even stronger coming through distributor Tri-Records/Select-O-Hits.
Moorer has been an active member and leader at Pilgrim''s Ministry of Deliverance church in Harbeson, Delaware founded by Apostle Ivory L. Hopkins. He is a licensed Minister of the Gospel and has held positions on the Ministerial staff of the Christian Shelter in Salisbury, Maryland as well as the United Assembly of Christ in Bridgeville, Delaware.
Prior to coming to the Lord in 1994, Moorer had lived a "colorful" life and could hold his own amongst many of the disenfranchised youth of his time. After growing weary as a sinner, Moorer had a personal encounter with the Lord that changed his life and shifted his focus personally and musically. Because of his troubled past, Moorer is able to reach youth with a troubled present and destroy the yokes of bondage through music, ministry and a powerful testimony.
John Moorer has recently relocated to Atlanta, Georgia with his wife Kathy and three children, Moriah, Joshua, and Kei''Asha.
