Bio*

Kata Hay started singing at the age of 2 years old. By 5, Kata had many performances under her belt and was soon informed that she had been accepted to Star Search ''93... She went to Florida, appeared on Ed McMahon''s Star Search, and took ten thousand dollars home with her! She won the WHOLE thing! Not only that, but Kata is the youngest person EVER to win Star Search! After Star Search, things really started booming for her, she was opening for many major artists, and making tons of appearances... At age 9 she made a movie called "Oklahoma Faded Love" and at 9, she made her first recording, "Oklahoma Baby" which is no longer for sale.... By the age of 10, she had started yodeling and playing guitar (Which would soon become one of her main passions)... She won the 1997 Oklahoma Opry Horizon Award, which was previously won by Bryan White... She is also the youngest person ever to receive that award... In 2000, Kata started moving towards Western Music, and won "Patsy Montana National Yodeling Championship" which gave her the opportunity to go to Fan Fair... In 2001, she won WMA International Yodeling Championship, and made her second recording "On My Way To Nashville"... Also in 2001, she won the Oklahoma Opry''s Female Vocalist Under 16 award.... She also won that in 2002, and 2003 , she is also the 2003 WMA International Yodeling Champion... In 2002 she made her 2nd cd, HIGH IN THE SADDLE which was widely sucsessful... She was nominated in the top 5 in 2003 for the AWA''s "Rising Star" and "Yodeler of the Year" awards... A great honor, seeing as how this was her first year in the orginization... She is a member of the Oklahoma Opry Hall of Fame... She was also the National Old Time Music Association''s SONGWRITER OF THE YEAR of 2003... In 2004 she was awarded, along with Ms Pat Boilson the "Harmony Champion''s" award from the WMA! Kata took her musical escapades across the ocean in early 2004, to the ''Land Down Under'', BEAUTIFUL Australia!!! She appeared on all the biggest shows there, with such Australian ledgends as the Kernighan''s and Smokey Dawson just to name a couple... Kata returned to Aus in 2005, and was even more successful... In July of 2004 Kata opened up the Academy of Western Artist Awards with her original song "Biggest Heart in Texas" and brought the house down, then later that night took home the GREAT honor of the RISING STAR award... Kata''s new cd "Cowboys, Guitars, and a Lil Bit Of Swing" was released just shortly after and is rising up the Western Music Charts... Kata is just 18, and much has been left out of this Bio, for room''s sake, but much is yet to come....
